Market Analysis

Indonesia has about 17,508 islands, nicknamed “the country of the thousand islands”. It is also a country with many volcanic earthquakes and the capital is Jakarta. Indonesia is one of the founding countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a member of the G20.

With a population of more than 252 million, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. Indonesia’s urban population is growing at an average annual rate of 2.5%. In the context of this urbanization development, professionals believe that Indonesia’s residential and non-residential construction projects will reach US$69.8 billion in 2017, with an annual growth rate of 8.0 %-9.5%.

The Indonesian economy is currently undergoing rapid transformation and development, and the Indonesian government attaches great importance to the improvement and upgrading of infrastructure in Jakarta and several other major cities. The total investment in infrastructure development projects will reach $559 billion by 2030.

According to the Indonesian Building Society, the construction industry has grown from $25 billion in 2011 to about $40 billion in 2013. The construction industry will continue to grow rapidly due to economic development and rising income levels. As the world’s fourth-largest population, Indonesia has a GDP growth rate of 5.21%, and the construction industry accounts for 12% of GDP.

Indonesia is rich in mineral resources. Among them, granite reserves exceed 16 billion tons. The reserves of limestone resources are about 34 billion tons and the proven reserves are about 28 billion tons. The stone processing industry in Indonesia is relatively underdeveloped. With the rapid development of the Indonesian construction market, not only the demand for stone has risen rapidly, but the demand for stone mining and processing machinery and tools has also increased. At present, it is the golden age for China’s stone and machine tool enterprises to enter the Indonesian market.
